You can track if there are roadblocks in any of the three processes i.e. if there is any process that is lagging behind the rest and can then focus your energies on upgrading that particular process.

The mine simulator has a vast variety of mines available. You start with the coal mine and once you have gathered a lot of money, you can then unlock the next mine i.e. gold. The process remains the same though the amounts involved change. There are around 08 mines in total available on the map with astronomical costs involved with unlocking each of them.
